With heartfelt sadness, family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones are mourning the passing of James “Jim” Voight Arnold Jr., 57, of Cypress, Texas, who passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Jim’s passing marks the loss of a man remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his career, his adventurous spirit, and the genuine kindness he showed to everyone he met. Those who knew him are reflecting on a life filled with meaningful relationships, unforgettable experiences, and a lasting impact on the people fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
Born on May 29, 1969, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Jim was raised with strong values that shaped the person he became. He graduated from Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1987 before continuing his education at Louisiana State University, where he played football and earned his bachelor’s degree in 1991.
His time as an LSU athlete remained an important part of his identity, and he carried his pride for the Fighting Tigers throughout his life. Whether cheering from the stands or sharing his passion for the university with others, Jim’s loyalty to LSU was a reflection of the enthusiasm and spirit he brought to everything he loved.
Professionally, Jim built an impressive career with MMR Group, dedicating more than 24 years of service to the company. Through his leadership, commitment, and business expertise, he earned the respect of colleagues and industry peers. At the time of his passing, Jim served as Vice President and Regional Manager of Business Development for the Texas Region and was a valued shareholder of the company.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jim will be remembered most for the way he lived life. He found happiness in the simple moments shared with family and friends — gathering around a campfire, spending time at hunting camps, preparing memorable meals, and enjoying fishing trips along the Texas Coast. He loved exploring the world with his wife, children, and close friends, creating memories that will continue to be treasured.
Known affectionately as “Jimbo,” he had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed. He never met a stranger and had a gift for forming connections wherever he went. His laughter, generosity, and love for life touched countless people, leaving behind memories that will continue to bring comfort to those who knew him.
Jim’s legacy will live on through his loving family, including his wife, Lisa Carter Arnold; his children, James “Cam” Arnold (fiancée Ashley Lawson) and Caitlin Elizabeth Arnold; his mother, Peggy Lynn Arnold; his sister, Debbie Arnold Weaver (spouse Travis Weaver); his in-laws, Dr. Randy and Twila Head and Mark and Kristi Carter; and his nieces and nephews, Randy II, Sterling, Presley, Norah, Jude, Luke, Jackson, and Ava.
He was preceded in death by his father, James V. Arnold Sr., and his mother-in-law, Tena Pilkinton Carter.
As family and friends remember Jim’s life, they are holding close the many moments that reflected his character — his devotion to loved ones, his passion for adventure, and his ability to bring joy to those around him. His absence will be deeply felt, but the memories he created will remain a lasting source of comfort.
In honor of Jim’s memory, the family has requested that instead of ordering trees for the family, friends and loved ones consider planting a tree in his honor, creating a living tribute to a life that brought so much joy and meaning to others.
James “Jim” Voight Arnold Jr. will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
